TeraRecon Releases Improved Workflow and New 3D Tools for Aquarius Product Family

San Mateo, CA--May 10, 2005: TeraRecon announced major software updates for its flagship real-time Aquarius product family that offers improved clinical workflow tools for reading and reporting of MDCT and MR studies. Modern 64-slice CT scanners can now take full advantage of a host of new workflow enhancements and 3D tools for cardiac CT applications including single click coronary vessel segmentation, vessel analysis tools, and automated reporting features.

The Aquarius Workstation is an advanced 3D diagnostic workstation used for visualizing, editing, and analyzing large thin-slice MDCT and MR examinations. The AquariusNET Server has achieved widespread market acceptance in the US for maximizing the utility of MDCT, MR, and other medical imaging data throughout the enterprise using a central 3D processing server delivering real-time interactive 3D imaging to networked PCs running the AquariusNET thin-client application.

Aquarius Workstation Version 3.4 offers several new and improved workflow enhancements with added functionality for cardiac and cardiovascular imaging, endovascular intervention planning, CT colonography, and neuroradiology applications. Protocol-based workflow tools automatically edit the 3D volume images based on the study type selected. Direct vessel analysis applies quick stenosis calculations, with findings automatically sent to a report constructed on the fly from context-sensitive templates. For cardiac CT, coronary vessels are automatically segmented in a single click, with vessel trace tools applied for quick investigation of the lumen and calculation of stenosis. For endovascular intervention planning, optimized workflow has been implemented allowing detailed measurements for abdominal and thoracic aortic endografts, including techniques for planning advanced fenestrated / branch devices. For CT colonography, the entire colon is automatically segmented upon loading with flight paths automatically generated. Report generation is intuitively embedded in the diagnostic reading workflow, including support for extra-colonic findings.

The Version 1.5 release of the AquariusNET Server and accompanying thin-client application includes several important enhancements for improved clinical workflow, fast loading, advanced segmentation, and measurement tools. Included in version 1.5 is a conferencing feature, where one or many physicians connected to the AquariusNET Server via the thin-client running on their own PCs can observe 3D, MIP, and MPR manipulations made in real-time by the host of the conference, remotely. Vessel analysis on thin-client PCs is now available for the first time using advanced CPR functions, which automatically provide vessel stenosis calculations. Thin-client PC users have the ability to save scenes and templates on the server for access by remote physicians. Improved functionality is provided for CT-PET fusion imaging. Workflow enhancements include scheduled auto-routing based on time-of-day or day-of-week and added functionality to generate reports in Word.

Aquarius products allow physicians to efficiently and cost-effectively control and navigate volume data in real-time, to fully access the potential of these new imaging technologies, enabling better patient care, and allowing for better communications between imaging physicians and their referral base.
