Press ReleasesTeraRecon, Graz University Presents Cardiac Research Results at ECR San Mateo, CA--March 2, 2005: The Interdisciplinary Cardiac Imaging Center (IC2), Universitätsklinikum Graz (University Medical Center, Graz, Austria), in conjunction with TeraRecon, Inc. presented the research results of a cardiac trial of how patients with suspected or known coronary heart disease may best be studied and followed, at the 2005 European Congress of Radiology held in Vienna, Austria (ECR). The exhibit was held in the IMAGINE Intelligent Hospital exhibition area at ECR. The Graz University Medical Center has studied more than 3000 cardiac patients and has established a clinically representative database for image analysis and data quantification for measuring the results based on this large population cardiac trial. The scanning equipment used for this study included an Electron Beam Tomography scanner, supplied and maintained by Siemens, Imatron Inc, and General Electric Healthcare; a 64-slice Multi-Detector Computed Tomography scanner (Sensation 64, Siemens Medical Systems), and a Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner (Sonata, Siemens Medical Systems). “The Aquarius Workstation provided us the means for real-time imaging, along with sophisticated data analysis and database tools,” states Dr. Rainer Rienmüller, Professor of Radiology at Graz University Medical Center. “Using different imaging modalities necessitated the use of the best workstation for this type of image analysis and data quantification. TeraRecon’s Aquarius Workstation provided us the highest compatibility between the various imaging companies and different modalities.” TeraRecon, Inc, exhibited the latest release of its innovative Aquarius product family at ECR. The Aquarius Workstation is an advanced 3D diagnostic workstation used for visualizing, editing, and analyzing large thin-slice CT and MR examinations. The AquariusNET Server has achieved widespread market acceptance in the US for maximizing the utility of CT, MR and other medical imaging data throughout the enterprise using a central 3D processing server delivering real-time interactive 3D imaging to networked PCs running the AquariusNET thin-client application. “Europe represents a great potential for our business expansion," states Robert Taylor, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer for TeraRecon. “As 16 and 64-slice MDCT and advanced MRI become widely accepted throughout Europe, a host of less invasive, expensive or time-consuming alternatives to catheter angiography and other imaging procedures become available to healthcare professionals. However as we have seen in the US, there will be rapidly increasing demand for the unique capability of the Aquarius product line to manage the enormity of the acquired volume data that accompanies these new and valuable imaging procedures. The Aquarius products will allow radiologists to efficiently and cost-effectively navigate the volume data in real time, to fully access the potential of these new imaging technologies to enable better patient care, and to allow for better communications between radiologists and referring physicians.” About TeraRecon, Inc.
