Press ReleasesTeraRecon and Kansas Spine Hospital announce luminary relationship San Mateo, CA--July 19, 2004: TeraRecon and Kansas Spine Hospital (Wichita, KS) today announced that they have entered into a luminary site agreement. Kansas Spine Hospital has adopted TeraRecon's Aquarius technology to provide real-time reconstruction capabilities, allowing radiologists and clinicians at Kansas Spine Hospital to interact with larger and more complex CT and MR datasets, augmenting their Philips PACS system with real-time multi-planar reconstruction and volume rendering capability. Dr. Norman Pay, Medical Director the Department of Radiology at Kansas Spine Hospital states; "TeraRecon's post-processing solutions allow us to realize the full potential of our state-of-the-art CT and MR scanners within our clinical workflow. Utilizing TeraRecon's real-time tool for reviewing cross-sectional data in a multi-planar format saves us enormous time in getting to the right answer." Kansas Spine Hospital signed a strategic business alliance in February 2004 with Philips Medical Systems to supply them the latest imaging technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic and neurological conditions. Included in the alliance are the Intera 3.0Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MR) system and the area's first Philips CT 16-slice computed tomography (CT) system. Kansas Spine Hospital also implemented Philips 'EasyAccess' PACS, enabling Kansas Spine Hospital to become a state-of-the-art paperless, all-digital hospital system, providing physicians and other authorized personnel with fast, secure access to radiology images and reports. "We can now effectively and more quickly review huge datasets and assist our surgeons with patient management" according to Dr. Pay. "The surgeons can more accurately plan for patient intervention and treatment since the radiologists provide detailed information using TeraRecon's workstations." Since the introduction of TeraRecon's post-processing technology at Kansas Spine Hospital, outside physician referrals to KSH have significantly increased for radiology review of CTA and MRA studies.
