Press ReleasesTeraRecon and Fukuda Denshi Co., Ltd. strengthen ultrasound partnership San Mateo, CA--December 2, 2004 : TeraRecon and Fukuda Denshi, Co., Ltd. announced the strengthening of their partnership in the development and distribution of advance ultrasound technology at the 90th annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) exhibition at McCormick Place, Chicago. The companies' existing partnerships for both sales and marketing, and research and development have been strengthened with new contracts for research and development. The first new contract relates to "4D imaging", whereby an ultrasound system produces live real-time 3D images of anatomy in motion. The second new contract relates to joint development of additional ultrasound systems to include portable and cart-based B-Mode systems, and a next-generation portable color Doppler system. Previously, TeraRecon, Inc. and Fukuda Denshi Co. Ltd., have completed the joint development of a complete digital back-end processing subsystem, and certain digital front-end components (such as a digital beam former) for use in Fukuda Denshi Corporation's latest ultrasound system. These advanced technologies, jointly developed with Fukuda Denshi Co., Ltd., and based on TeraRecon's unique XTrillion processor technology, will be exhibited at the RSNA 2004 exhibition this week. In addition to this collaboration on the research and development of exciting new ultrasound technologies, TeraRecon, Inc. is also engaged as a national distributor in the United States for Fukuda Denshi Co., Ltd.'s line of ultrasound systems. From the beginning of 2004, TeraRecon, Inc. has developed and deployed an end-user sales force engaged in the direct sales and promotion of ultrasound products jointly developed with Fukuda Denshi Co., Ltd., starting with the portable UF-750XT color Doppler ultrasound, and in anticipation of further jointly developed ultrasound products to come. The first of these will be a new mainstream ultrasound system to be exhibited at RSNA, cooperatively developed with Fukuda Denshi Co., Ltd. Fukuda Denshi Co. Ltd., and TeraRecon, Inc. jointly announce that future ultrasound systems cooperatively developed by Fukuda Denshi Co. Ltd., and TeraRecon, Inc. will be distributed by TeraRecon, Inc. in parallel with other existing distributors of Fukuda Denshi, and that these future systems powered by TeraRecon technology will be co-branded with the Fukuda Denshi / TeraRecon, Inc. brand. All the jointly developed ultrasound systems described above are to be equipped with network capability to store or push images captured. When coupled with TeraRecon's AquariusNET SONIC line of image review and distribution systems, digital ultrasound examinations can be reviewed in real-time cine mode on regular networked PC's enterprise-wide, on local or remote computers meeting everyday performance specifications.
