Press ReleasesTeraRecon medical imaging installed base reaches 400 Systems with U.S. Navy installation San Mateo, CA--October 7, 2003: TeraRecon announced today that it has achieved the milestone of 400 medical imaging system installations worldwide, with a recent installation of Aquarius Workstations and an AquariusNET server at the US Naval Medical Center of San Diego. The U.S. launch of TeraRecon's Aquarius line of diagnostic imaging post-processing products occurred approximately 2 ½ years ago, starting with the Aquarius Workstation, followed soon after by the AquariusNET Enterprise 3D Server, the AquariusBLUE entry-level workstation, and the Personal Digital Lightbox solution for filmless review and image management. The Aquarius products are used in conjunction with modern Multi-Detector Row CT (MDCT) and MRI scanners, which are becoming increasingly commonplace diagnostic imaging modalities in healthcare institutions around the world. Recent advances in MDCT and MRI have made possible new, minimally invasive diagnostic techniques, as an alternative to more invasive and risky diagnostic procedures such as catheter angiography. However, in order to form a diagnosis with confidence from the large, complex datasets produced by these modern scanners, radiologists benefit from sophisticated image processing techniques. To address this need, TeraRecon's Aquarius line offers both a stand-alone processing workstation, and the highly innovative enterprise-wide AquariusNET server solution which brings the advanced processing directly to the radiologist's work station, and the referring physician's desktop. AquariusNET is accounting for an ever-growing portion of TeraRecon installations worldwide, as understanding of the benefits of this new technology increases and discerning healthcare providers adopt this powerful solution to address advanced visualization needs enterprise-wide. In recognition of TeraRecon's distinct technology advantage, the company was recently nominated by Craig Barrett, Chief Executive Officer of Intel (NasdaqNM:INTC), for the 2003 Computerworld Honors Collection. TeraRecon was also awarded the 2002 Market Engineering Product Differentiation Innovation Award by Frost and Sullivan. About TeraRecon, Inc. Contact:
