Press Releases
TeraRecon TGS, Inc. to demonstrate
TeraRecon's VolumePro 1000 volume rendering board at SEG
San Mateo, CA--September
9, 2001:
TGS, Inc. is proud to announce
that it will be show casing one of the first public demonstrations
of TeraRecon's new VolumePro® 1000 true real time 3D volume rendering
board in booth #1513 at the SEG conference in San Antonio, TX. TGS
will demonstrate the use of this powerful technology driven by the
leading cross platform API, Open Inventor.
"The introduction of the new VolumePro®
1000 has been a log awaited event by many oil and gas software developers,"
says Steve Lutz, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TGS. "The
ability to accelerate and interact with large volume data is a key
technology for the geoscience market segment."
The VolumePro® 1000 is a second-generation
3D real-time rendering accelerator built on its predecessor, the VolumePro®
500. The VolumePro® 1000 is a significant technological advance
in the area of 3D computer graphics and provides a level of functionality
never before available to the geoscientist. For the first time in
real-time, voxels and surface information (polygons) are seamlessly
integrated together. Up to 2GB of volume memory on a single PCI board
allows users to load very large datasets. Real time rendering performance
of 5123 at up to 30 frames per second is now possible. Superior image
quality is achieved based on gradient lighting and a new X-Y image
order algorithm. 32-bit voxels using four programmable fields will
allow for data segmentation, image fusion, and multi channel rendering.
In short, the VolumePro® 1000 provides a broad range of features
and functionality for high-end visualization applications and customers.
"TGS and TeraRecon have worked closely together
in support of both companyís product introductions" says Steve Sandy,
Vice President of Marketing for TeraRecon. "We anticipate these compelling
product demonstrations at this years SEG will capture the attention
and imagination of all major software developers in this market."
TGS and TeraRecon have worked closely together
to demonstrate their solutions that are now available to clients through
the combining of Open Inventor and the VolumePro® 1000 board.
