TeraRecon launches Aquarius Workstation
at European Congress of Radiology: former AccuImage CEO joins to head
new project
San Mateo, CA--March
7, 2001: TeraRecon
announced the launch of its Aquarius
Workstation at the European Congress of Radiology exhibition in Vienna,
Austria. The former CEO of AccuImage Diagnostics Corp. (OTCBB:AIDP),
Robert Taylor, Ph.D. has joined TeraRecon as the company's Executive
Vice President, with particular focus on developing Aquarius operations.
Dr Taylor will be responsible for the marketing and ongoing development
of TeraRecon's medical imaging software solutions in the US and Europe,
to build on the success the company has enjoyed to date with its proprietary
workstation product line in the Japanese market.
"TeraRecon is engaged in the development
of high performance technology for imaging applications, and the marketing
of products and services featuring the same, to provide the medical
imaging professional with advanced digital solutions to the economic
and technical challenges faced by modern medical imaging practice,"
said Motoaki Saito, M.D., President and CEO of TeraRecon. "Dr. Taylor
has proven capability in this rapidly-growing, highly technical arena,
and we aim to rapidly develop our presence in the US and European
markets through his contribution as part of our management team. The
Aquarius product line features TeraRecon's advanced 3D and 4D visualization
and post-processing solutions for medical imaging devices such as
Computed Tomography (CT), Electron-Beam Tomography (EBT, Imatron Inc.,
NASDAQ:IMAT) and Magnetic Resonance (MR) scanners. In addition, the
company's technology will be deployed to provide Intranet and Internet-based
solutions for the distribution and review of medical images and reports,
providing the many thousands of medical imaging facilities in the
US with the opportunity to market new and advanced procedures, and
to reduce their tremendous film costs by adopting our digital solutions."
"In the US today, we are seeing a growing
public interest in advanced medical imaging," observed Dr. Taylor,
"with private scanning clinics that offer screening procedures to
the 'worried-well' receiving recent coverage in high-profile broadcast
media and the press. This is one of the many related applications
for which TeraRecon's core high-performance visualization technology
was specifically designed, and we are now poised with the Aquarius
product line ready to take advantage of this market opportunity and
others in the medical imaging industry in general. Aquarius will also
be marketed to medical imaging OEMS to whom TeraRecon can provide
targeted technology solutions to enhance their product offerings and
marketing capability. The world-class technology and market penetration
that TeraRecon already possesses bring a truly exciting opportunity
for us to rapidly progress in this challenging and progressive arena."
