TeraRecon announces VolumePro 1000, the new standard in 3D medical imaging

San Mateo, CA--October 16, 2001: TeraRecon announced the immediate availability of the VolumePro® 1000, its revolutionary true real time 3D volume rendering hardware solution. VolumePro® patented technology provides the highest image quality, real time performance, and advanced image processing features required for the next generation imaging workstations and CT, MR, EBT, Ultrasound and PET scanners. Targeted to medical imaging manufacturers and system integrators, VolumePro® 1000 establishes a new standard for achieving high performance and unsurpassed image quality. TeraRecon will showcase this breakthrough technology at booth #8525 at RSNA in Chicago November 25-29.

"VolumePro® 1000 is a significant technological advance in the field of 3D medical imaging," said Jamie Jacobs, COO and Executive Vice President of TeraRecon. "By simultaneously raising the bar for image quality, performance, and rich image processing features, TeraRecon's VolumePro® 1000 offers the only no-compromise real time 3D medical imaging solution on the market today."

VolumePro® 1000's dramatic advances in image quality are achieved through its patented implementation of advanced gradient lighting and ray-per-pixel ray casting algorithm. VolumePro® 1000 achieves real time interactive performance for medical images as large as 512 CT slices. Up to 2GB of volume data can be visualized and manipulated on a single PCI board and multiple boards can work in concert to handle the most demanding data. VolumePro®'s advanced feature set includes 32 bit data for multi-channel rendering, image fusion, and powerful data segmentation. And for the first time in real time, surface and voxel information can be seamlessly integrated.

VolumePro® 3D imaging technology has the power and scalability to outpace advances in spatial resolution and slice counts for modern multi-detector CT and other modality scanners. VolumePro® 1000 comes with an OEM development kit, which enables developers to quickly evaluate, prototype, and integrate VolumePro® 1000 with user applications and systems.
