Motoaki Saito, M.D.,
Ph.D.
Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman
of the Board
Dr. Saito founded TeraRecon in April 1997 and
serves as president and CEO. Dr. Saito is a radiologist, entrepreneur,
and visionary. His academic research work and clinical training
at Tokyo University Hospital provided him with valuable experience
with all medical imaging modalities and information systems. Other
than strategic planning of entire company operations, he's responsible
both for the solution/application ground designs and the core technology
designs including system/processor level architecture. He served
as President of Meditechs Co. Ltd. in 1994, JAM System, Inc. and
AMT, Inc. in Tokyo, Japan in 1995. In 1996, Dr. Saito became chairman
of the board of Amdarc B.V., a shareholding company of the semiconductor
companies Arcobel Graphics BV and Arcobel ASIC Design Center BV
in the Netherlands.
Kazuo Takahashi,
M.Sc.
Director
Mr. Takahashi joined Arcobel Graphics Japan,
Inc. in 1996 as the principal technologist, and later assumed the
post of chief technology officer for TeraRecon in 1997. He has a
master's degree in electrical engineering from Nihon University,
Japan, for research on large digital archives for satellite images
and weather simulation and forecasting with supercomputers. His
particular expertise is in the field of analog/digital signal processing,
real-time reconstruction, advanced volume rendering algorithms,
and DSP/processor architecture. He's responsible for the continuous
development of TeraRecon's XTrillion processor, other ASICs and
parallel processing system design. Mr. Takahashi's engineering research
achievements comprise a large portion of the company's intellectual
property.
Robert Taylor, Ph.D.
President, Chief Operating Officer
Dr. Taylor has over 12 years of experience
with advanced software and technology commercialization in a broad
range of settings, from advanced clinical applications to distributed
healthcare systems. He received both his B.Sc. (1990) and his Ph.D.
(1996) in physics from Imperial College of Science, Technology and
Medicine, London, England. From 1999 to 2001 Dr. Taylor served as
chief executive officer and director of AccuImage Diagnostics Corp.
(OTCBB:AIDP), where he established market share for the company's
3D workstation and wide area networking solutions while reporting
the company's first profitable fiscal year results and delivering
a three-fold increase in revenues.
Lakshmi Lakshminarayan,
M.B.A.
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial
Officer
Mr. Lakshminarayan's career encompasses
over 20 years of experience leading both field and headquarters
financial operations, including multi-national Fortune 50 companies,
medium-sized companies, and start-ups. Prior to joining TeraRecon,
Lakshmi was the Director of Finance and Business Administration,
in the Ultrasound Division of Siemens Medical Solutions, Inc. He
was part of the management team that successfully introduced several
new technologies and innovative products that gained significant
market share and growth in the ultrasound imaging sector. His extensive
operational experience includes financial oversight and operational
support of Sales, Service, Product Management, Business Development,
and Manufacturing areas. Mr. Lakshminarayan has previously held
a number of senior management positions within Siemens Communications,
Cadence Design, ROLM Systems, and Tel Plus Communications. Mr. Lakshminarayan
holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree with honors, with a double
major in Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering from
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India. He also
holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of New York.
Vikram Simha,
M.S.
Chief Technology Office, Senior Vice
President
Mr. Simha has over 15 years of experience in
the field of computer graphics and visualization. He started his
medical imaging career at Vital Images, Inc. where he was responsible
for developing the OpenGL-based Volume Rendering Engine for their
3D medical imaging workstation, "Vitrea." In 1998, he
joined Real-Time Visualization, a division of Mitsubishi Electric
to help engineer the VolumePro 500 and VolumePro 1000 volume rendering
accelerators. While at Mitsubishi, Mr. Simha, along with a colleague,
created VolumeProNET, the predecessor to TeraRecon's current AquariusNET
Server product. He is a co-author on several patents on VolumePro
and AquariusNET. Mr. Simha manages the engineering of TeraRecon's
Aquarius and VolumePro product lines. He holds a Masters degree
from the University of Texas at Austin.
Toshiaki Sakaguchi,
Ph.D.
Senior Vice President of Operations
Dr. Sakaguchi is responsible for all of the company's operational
activities. Prior to his current position, he was an EVP at Information
Technology Center of America (ITA) and at Mitsubishi Electric's
Research Laboratories in the U.S. Previously, he led R&D projects
at Mitsubishi Electric Industrial Electronics and Systems Lab and
also at the Central Research Lab in Japan. He worked as the project
manager as well as the manager of strategic planning and administration
for the first real-time digital power system simulator. Dr. Sakaguchi
received his Ph.D. from Kyoto University in 1982.
Koichi Kanayama,
M.B.A., C.P.A.
Senior Vice President, Japan Branch Manager
With experience in both technology and finance
areas, Mr. Kanayama joined TeraRecon in June 2004. He received a
BS degree from the University of Tokyo and MBA from University of
Washington. His career includes two venture companies with successful
IPO's in Japan. Mr. Kanayama lead a start-up airline, Skymark Airlines
Co., Ltd., as CFO and Corporate Planning officer, and a browser
software company, Access Co., Ltd. to expand international operations
and business development as GM of Corporate Planning.
Jeffrey Sorenson, M.B.A., B.S.E.E.
Vice President of Aquarius Sales, US and Canada
Mr. Sorenson is a seasoned medical imaging professional with over
15 years of industry experience, holding a variety of positions
including sales, marketing, and service management, including 9
years of experience in advanced CT applications. Jeff is responsible
for managing sales activities for TeraRecon's Aquarius products
in the USA and Canada. Prior to TeraRecon, Jeff served as the Director
of Marketing for Imatron, Inc. from 1999 - 2002, where he helped
drive significant increases in revenue prior to the sale of the
company to GE Medical Systems where Jeff subsequently served as
Strategic Sales Manager, Cardiovascular CT. Prior to GE and Imatron,
Jeff held positions in service management and service engineering
with Philips Medical Systems. Mr. Sorenson holds an Executive M.B.A.
degree from Cardinal Stritch University, Edina, MN, and a B.S. in
Electrical Engineering with emphases in digital design and controls
from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville.
